Vegas

Následně připojuje podrobnosti důležitých her z 10k PLO championship.

It was about time something good to happen

I was supposed to blog about the SCOOP win earlier, but I was busy and tired a few days after  and then things started to go bad in the cash games. I was 205k under EV at the worst after the tournament win. But I wanted to make this a happy blog (partly because the million-making-robot Jens Kyllönen told me not to moan about been unlucky anymore) so I had to wait for the downswing to end.

Back in Finland

My trip is over, I came back to Finland yesterday. 6 tournaments, 0 cashes. Not what I was hoping for, but since just over 10% of the players cashes it's nothing shocking. Variance is insanly high in tournaments, and I guess my style of play aims more to the higher positions than just a minicash. I was all in just 7 times in the 6 tourmaments. The only one I won was in Monte Carlo highroller when I moved all-in from the small blind again the big blind for 11bb with QTo and was called by A4o.

Big things happening in poker

I haven’t been playing much tournaments at all the last six months or so, but now I’m on halfway on my 5 or 6 tournament trip. I started out with the Everest 5k and 10k in Monte-Carlo. The 5k main event was first, I busted in the end of day one. I had about average and then there was a hand where I called a small raise from BB (raiser was on the button) with 43s and flopped two pair on 346 and we got the money in and the guy had 66 so there was not much to draw there. Pretty sad to get it in with a good hand like that, and I think I folded every hand for two hours before that.

It’s not easy to stay positive with all this

I came to Copenhagen yesterday to play the EPT (Day 1B, which was today). I had some break from the tournaments (and haven’t been playing that much online this year either) and I was excited and full of patience but then I remembered what it is…

Still not too hot

Wow it’s been awhile. It’s just that there hasn’t been much of anything interesting going on in my poker games. Well, there was the EPT in Barcelona. I lost most of my chips in the main event in a hand where I opened 67s from middle position and a young guy to my left was the only caller. The flop was 478 with a flush draw (not my suit), I C-bet and he called. The turn was a 4. I check-called his big bet. The river was a 2, the flush didn’t fill up.

No good so far - looking forward to Cannes

I went to Tallinn for the EPT, not much to tell from there - couldn't win any hands really and busted soon after the dinner break. I played a few FTOPS events, only cash was a minicash in the main. There were 2k 6handed Omaha and 2k NL tournaments in Helsinki which I played. I was 12th in Omaha, sounds good but it's not. There were 58 players (if I remember correctly), and money only for the final 6. There weren't many more players in the NL either.

Back in Europe - and grinding

The Vegas trip was longer than I planned - again. But that's allright, it was a good month. Not so much game-wise, but a lot of good times at the clubs etc. I started playing live cash games too late, there was not so much action left. I was surprised there was nothing higher than 25/50 running. Not even that all the time. So I played a few sessions in a 25/50 NL and once in 25/50 PLO.

Main Event

I played the main event on 1d. I was a few hours late, but still had over 27k when I took the seat. I ran really bad, didn't make any hands and the few times I had something I didn't get any action. My table wasn't very good, altho there weren't any really good players either. There was one pretty loose guy who pulled some sick bluffs.

Las Vegas

I've been to Vegas for a week now. I'm staying at the new Aria Hotel, which is pretty cool. Seems like almost everybody is playing a lot of events and making all kinds of sick prop bets. It feels like such a waste of time to sit all day at the Rio. I dunno... at least I feel like there must be better things to do in Vegas.
